Who we are

Pravori is built and operated by Salix South AI (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2025/629407/07, a company registered in South Africa with its registered address at 23 Lavenham Road, Rondebosch, Cape Town, South Africa. In this policy, “Salix South AI”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Salix South AI (Pty) Ltd. You can reach us at support@salixsouth.ai.

This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through the pravori.com website and through the Pravori case management platform. It is written to comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

Two roles: website visitor and platform user

This policy covers two different situations, and the two are treated differently under POPIA.

When you visit pravori.com to read about the product, book a demo, or contact us, Salix South AI is the responsible party for the personal information you give us directly.

When you use the Pravori platform as an employee of a law firm, your firm is the responsible party for the matter data, client data and account information held in the platform. Salix South AI acts as the operator, processing that data only on the firm’s instructions and under the terms of our agreement with the firm. If you have questions about how your firm handles your personal information within Pravori, your firm is the right first point of contact. Questions about how we, as operator, secure and process that data on the firm’s behalf can still be sent to us.

Information we collect

On the website, we collect:

  • Usage analytics, such as pages viewed and general location, where analytics tools are enabled on the site.
  • Details you submit when booking a demo through Calendly, including your name, email address, firm name and any notes you add.
  • Details you submit through the contact form on this site, including your name, email address, firm name and your message.
  • Any information you send us directly by email, such as when you contact us with a question.

On the platform, we process:

  • Account details provisioned by your firm’s administrators, such as your name, work email and role.
  • Matter and client data your firm stores in Pravori, including personal information relating to claimants, witnesses and other parties to a matter.
  • Activity logs, including login times, feature usage and changes made to records, kept for security and audit purposes.

How we use personal information

We use website information to respond to enquiries, schedule demos, understand how the site is used, and improve it over time. Where we rely on analytics, our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the site, balanced against your privacy.

We process platform data to provide the Pravori service to your firm: running the software, maintaining audit logs, backing up data, providing support, and keeping the platform secure. We do this on the instructions of your firm, under the subscription agreement between Salix South AI and your firm.

We do not sell personal information to anyone.

Sharing and third-party service providers

We share personal information with a limited number of service providers who help us run the website and the platform. Each is bound by a written agreement to use the information only for the purpose we specify and to protect it appropriately. Current providers include:

  • Vercel, which hosts the pravori.com website.
  • Google Analytics, only where analytics is enabled on the website.
  • Calendly, which handles demo booking and scheduling.
  • Resend, which delivers contact-form messages to our support inbox.
  • Our email provider, for sending and receiving business correspondence.
  • Cloud infrastructure providers that host the Pravori platform and its data.

We do not share personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Your rights under POPIA

Subject to the conditions set out in POPIA, you have the right to:

  • Ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you.
  • Request access to that information.
  • Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or outdated.
  • Ask us to delete or destroy information we no longer have a lawful basis to hold.
  • Object to the processing of your personal information on reasonable grounds.

To exercise any of these rights over information we hold as the responsible party (website enquiries and demo bookings), email support@salixsouth.ai. For matter and account data held within Pravori by your firm, please raise the request with your firm directly, since your firm controls that data. We will assist your firm in responding to such requests where we are the operator.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa if you believe your personal information has been processed unlawfully. The Information Regulator can be contacted at complaints.IR@inforegulator.org.za.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encryption of data in transit, role-based access controls so users only see what their role requires, and audit logging of activity on the platform. No system is completely secure, and we continue to review and update these measures as the platform grows.

Retention

We keep website enquiry and demo booking information for as long as needed to respond to you and for a reasonable period afterward for our records. Platform data is retained for as long as your firm’s subscription is active, plus any additional period required by law, professional record-keeping rules, or our agreement with your firm. When data is no longer required, we delete or anonymise it.

Children

The website and the platform are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will address it.

Cross-border transfers

Some of the service providers we use, including website hosting and certain infrastructure providers, may process information outside South Africa. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure the information receives a level of protection consistent with POPIA, including through contractual safeguards with those providers.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we change service providers or if POPIA guidance changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated. Material changes affecting platform users will also be communicated to firms under their subscription agreement.
